About Marc Carson

Hi, nice to meet you.

I’ve been involved with the web since the early 1990s. My background is both artistic and technical. I’m a web design and development generalist and pride myself on a multi-disciplinary approach to creating web experiences.

Photo of Marc After working as a graphic designer, illustrator, multimedia musician, and interface designer, I moved to California in 2004 and started working as an independent website designer. Since then I’ve used all of that past experience to make my clients’ websites stand out.

I think that’s what it takes to be a good web guy: Everything you’ve got. Programming skills, graphic design, illustration, musicianship, videography…the more you know, the greater the final product can become.

In 2005, my illustration work was exhibited at the world-renowned SIGGRAPH conference. As a hobby, I work with graphics software developers to develop and test new features, with which I crank out illustrations and animations as time permits. If you’re interested, you can check out some of my graphics and animation work at Flickr or Youtube.

From 2007 to 2009, in my spare time, I taught several Computer Graphics courses at Mendocino College. My students were incredible, and taught me tons.

I’m a major computer geek. I’ve been involved with Unix and Linux since the mid-1990s, which is also when I started learning computer programming. At home I use a combination of Linux, Mac, and even Windows computers, although most are Linux-based, running software that I’ve written to help me with my job.

When I’m not belted into my office chair, madly typing code, I enjoy getting outdoors, reading books of all kinds, and watching films.

I live in northern California with my lovely wife, two little boys, and two cats.

Oh, and people say I have a pretty good sense of humor. If you detect any of that on my website…mea culpa.
